After reading all the mixed reviews, many of them had good
comments on what I was looking for in a hiking boot. So I
purchased them and have now done a multi day hike and a day
hike in them. I almost feel like I don't have shoes on. They
need no break in time, are flexible but sturdy and yes are
water proof to 6 inches of water. I switched to a thin sock
as they can get a little warm which I have found common with
water proof boots. If you tend to have wider feet these are
perfect. The cushion is great but that may mean it also will
wear out quicker. Some reviews mentioned early wear signs
but I have yet to see this. I will be purchasing a second
pare for every day use.

This is a very comfortable boot and I wear them everyday.
The only cautions I would offer is that they are slippery in
snow, the bottoms have worn quicker then I had hoped, and
that while I usually wear a size 12, in these I needed a 13.
With that said, I am getting ready to order another pair.
These are really comfortable boots, have great water
proofing, and are not too stiff to wear everyday.

I am 65 and diabetic and needed a winter boot that would not
cramp my toes/feet during walks on asphalt and improved
trails about 3-5 miles per day. This shoe is it and while it
will compete in the ugliest shoe contest, it has been great
from the start. Have used now in the local parks as well as
on frozen trail spots and in 4 inch snow during sub-20
weather. Feet remained warm and dry throughout. They can
pound you a bit on asphalt if you don't adjust your stride
but excel on trails and snow. I am not sure how these will
work in the summer but I believe OK. I would buy again.
Recommend buying in the store; in my case it took a half
size bigger and I would not have known that for mail order.

Just hiked 300 miles on the Camino Santiago in Northern
Spain. Used one pair of Smart Wool Socks and a bit of
Aquaphor each am, and never had a blister!. Perfect fit for
my feet. Lightweight and waterproof. I hiked thru several
hot days on the "meseta" (new pair of socks at midday) and
in the mountains of Galicia, days with rain and snow. Feet
stayed dry in wet weather. Carried about 20# and ankle
support was fine. For my feet, these are the best.
